Questions about an official Utah criminal record must go to the government office responsible for that record. Utah BCI handles a person's review of their own Utah repository history, Utah Courts maintains criminal case files, the Utah Department of Corrections supplies state custody and supervision information, and Utah BCI administers the offender registry. Arrest reports, bookings, jail records, and other local files remain with county or municipal custodians. The routes below identify the correct source because Utah Criminal History is a private reference site and cannot retrieve, alter, certify, or release government records.

This Is Not a Government Office. Utah Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with Utah BCI, Utah Courts, corrections, law enforcement, or county government. We cannot obtain an official record, correct or remove an entry, conduct an official background check, or accept an expungement filing.

Need an Official Record?

Use the official Utah source that matches the record:

  • Your own Utah criminal history: use the fingerprint-supported Right of Access process through the Utah Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification
  • Criminal case files: review the Utah court case routes and contact the clerk for the court that holds the case
  • State custody or supervision: use UDC Offender Search from the Utah Department of Corrections
  • Offender registry information: use the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry administered by Utah BCI
  • Police and incident reports: submit the request to the law-enforcement agency that created the report under Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act when applicable
  • Expungement: BCI evaluates statewide eligibility, while the petition belongs in the Utah court tied to the case or arrest
  • County records: choose the local site from the directory of all 29 Utah counties for sheriff bookings, jail rosters, and local court sources
