Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Utah Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so our team can respond. We keep that correspondence within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the site's systems may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view timestamps and time spent on visited pages
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
- The pages opened during the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic patterns, including popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers may combine those events into aggregate reports. A visitor can block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how parts of the website function.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Utah Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official sources, including Utah BCI, Utah Courts, the Utah Department of Corrections, the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry, and local custodians in Utah's 29 counties. Government access is governed by the Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, while Utah Code §53-10-108 limits dissemination of BCI information. We do not turn visitor information into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on this site. Information entered there is handled under that partner's privacy policy. Each provider decides how long to retain data and when to share it, and Utah Criminal History does not control those choices. Review the applicable outside policy before using a tool.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Utah agencies, court portals, county offices, legal-aid resources, and private search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may still be available to the following recipients when needed for the stated function:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks placing ads on website pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, so Utah Criminal History cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights over visitor data can depend on where a person lives and which law applies. GRAMA concerns records held by Utah government entities, and Utah Code §53-10-108 concerns restricted BCI information, so neither turns this private website's visitor data into a public government record. A visitor may still ask to:
- Obtain a copy of personal information we hold about that visitor
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete applicable personal data
- Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
