Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to Utah Criminal History. Opening a page, reading its material, or submitting a query through an outside search tool indicates acceptance of every condition below. The terms apply to the private website and its content, not to Utah government portals reached through outbound links. A visitor who does not agree should stop using the website. Utah records remain subject to the rules imposed by their official custodians, including GRAMA classifications and the limits placed on BCI criminal-history dissemination.

NO FCRA USE. Utah Criminal History is privately owned and has no affiliation with a local, state, or federal government body. Neither this site nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This reference resource is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Utah Criminal History is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve records, perform official checks, or submit filings for a user.

The website directs readers to Utah BCI, Utah Courts, the Utah Department of Corrections, the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry, and custodians across Utah's 29 counties. Official access is controlled by the record holder. The Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2 classifies Utah government records, while Utah Code §53-10-108 restricts disclosure of BCI information.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, a visitor agrees not to:

  • Use information to stalk, harass, or threaten another person
  • Use content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision
  • Violate federal, Utah, or local law
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into website systems
  • Run a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
  • Interfere with website performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

A visitor may not use information from this website or a linked tool to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. The restriction is especially important for the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry. Utah Code §53-29-404 forbids using registry information to harass, stalk, or threaten a registrant or family member. Public registry data supports lawful safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism, confrontation, or discriminatory treatment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Utah Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, background checks, or any other consumer report. Our advertising partners likewise do not provide a service here for evaluating applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. Information from this website or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Evaluate creditworthiness or establish an insurance premium
  • Screen a renter or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or firing decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government program
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A check for a regulated purpose must be obtained through an authorized Utah process or a screening company that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is not legal advice. General descriptions of Utah records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to one person. Consult a Utah-licensed attorney for advice about a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All website content is offered "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • A partner tool's results will be complete or correct
  • The website will always operate without interruption
  • Content will be accurate, complete, and current at all times
  • The pages will contain no error, bug, or security weakness

Utah criminal records change as charges are filed, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Updates may lag, and gaps may occur. No website statement should be treated as an official statement from Utah BCI, a court, a sheriff, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to Utah agencies, court portals, county offices, legal-aid groups, or private search providers. A visitor who follows one leaves our platform. We do not control the destination's content, availability, data practices, or fees, and visitors should read its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Utah Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to make a derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Utah Criminal History is not liable for damages arising from website use, including a decision based on content found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from a claim, action, or demand caused by that visitor's use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Utah law governs these terms. Any dispute related to website use must be brought in a court located within Utah.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end a visitor's access at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions remain effective. The affected language will be limited only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
